About Eleanor McCarthy

Art and science have always been part of who I am. My mother was an artist, and my father was a scientist who took me to his lab when I was little. I grew up seeing the world through both lenses — the beauty of creation and the wonder of how it all works.

I went on to build a career as a biochemist and patent agent, but I never stopped making art. It has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Now, in retirement, I finally have the time to give it everything I have.

And then there is faith — which changes everything.

I gave my heart fully to Jesus and was born again, and it transformed the way I see everything I create. As a scientist, I spent years studying the complexity of the natural world. The more I learned, the more I saw the hand of God in every detail — in the structure of a leaf, the symmetry of a flower, the intricacy of an insect’s wing. That wonder is what I try to capture in my art.

What I Create

My first love is the natural world — botanical art, birds, insects, and animals, rendered in watercolor, ink, and pencil. I paint what I see, and what I see is the fingerprint of God.

I also create Christian coloring books inspired by the great masterworks of sacred art. My first book, The Life of Jesus: A Christian Coloring Book Inspired by the Great Masters, for Teens, Adults & Families, is available now on Amazon. Each page is drawn from a painting in the public domain, reimagined as a coloring page for anyone who longs to draw a little closer to Him.

My second book, Garden of the Lord, is a botanical Scripture journey currently in progress — where my love of nature and my faith come together on every page.
